Building backlinks to your pages is an essential part of SEO (short for Search Engine Optimization) for two reasons. The first reason is that it helps your pages get indexed faster, which is very important because you want the search engines to find them as soon as possible and crawl them regularly. The second reason is that it helps your pages get higher search engine rankings for the keywords of your choice. The more backlinks you have, the better. Period.

However, building backlinks can be a time-consuming, boring process. You can outsource the process to an agency and pay a lot of money… Or you can do it yourself with SocialMonkee! SocialMonkee is an instant backlink builder allowing you to build 25 unique backlinks, every day, FREE! All links are on unique C-Class IP addresses and domains. Imagine being able to create 25 unique backlinks every day, with the click of a button, FREE! Well, you can stop imagining…

So, 25 unique backlinks every day… That’s a total of 175 backlinks every week, 750 every month. If you upgrade, you will be able to build 100 uniques backlinks, 3 times a day! That’s a total of 2,100 backlinks every week, 9,000 every month! The good news is… you can get a Premium Account, FREE! All you need to do is to refer 12 members, and your account will automatically be upgraded. If you’re not really into referral marketing, you may upgrade right now for a low one-time fee.

Submitting a page to SocialMonkee via the members area takes under two minutes, but there’s an even faster way! They created a Firefox plugin that allows you to submit your page to up to 100 sites in just a few clicks, using nothing else than Firefox! If you have a Premium Account you will also get access to link reports and RSS feeds, which are great to keep track of your backlinks and get them indexed fast. Submitting your RSS feeds to RSS submitters is actually a very important step in link building.

So what are you waiting for? Join SocialMonkee now while it’s still free!

Earn Money Online

Posted on: Sunday, Jun 12, 2011

You see it everywhere these days, “Earn Money Online”, “Earn an Online Income”, “Want to earn $$$ from your PC?”  But how many of these schemes are actually legitimate offers?  It is impossible to know.  I know I like earning money online, but I have two simple rules that I follow:

  1. If I have to pay anything at all, I won’t sign up.  Even if I don’t have to pay but they want payment details, I won’t sign up.  Why should I? Afterall, they are telling me they want to help me earn money, so why are they taking it from me?
  2. If they make ridiculous claims about ridiculous amounts, I also walk away.  As they say “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”.

That said, the odd offer does pique my interest and I’ve recently come across one of those such offers.  They offered modest earnings of $1000-$2000 per month.  It’s probably fair to say that if this is top earnings, most people will earn less but,  hey, who would say no to an extra thousand or so in their bank account every month?

So, getting even more keen now, I decided to sign up.  It’s completely free so what had I to lose by checking it out?  But then I saw it, the catch!  In order to unlock the form filling section, I had to earn $40 first, by referrals only!

So, this is why I now post the link.  I want to earn $40 by referrals, unlock the form filling feature, and see how easy (or hard) it is to earn $1000-$2000 in a month.  Then I’m going to share the results with you.  If it works, we can all help each other get the initial earnings of $40 and get on the road to earning a few extra bucks a month!  There is nothing to lose but everything to gain, if it turns out to be the real deal that is!

So please folks, click on the link below and sign up.  As I’ve said, it is completely free of charge.  You can get started straight away yourself or you can wait to see the results of our little experiment here at Chestnut Design.

If anyone else has any online money opportunities they have tried and tested, or indeed want to try and test, let us know.  We can check them out.

Many thanks for your continued support guys, it’s much appreciated!

AVG PC Tuneup

Posted on: Monday, Apr 18, 2011

Just recently, my laptop became extremely slow, freezing up every few minutes and basically driving me totally insane.  As you can imagine, I’ve been busy downloading programs, deleting programs, moving files etc. etc. etc, the usual carry on we’re all at on a daily basis.  “Time to pay my dues”, I thought, so I put aside some time and decided to degunk my poor neglected machine, the same machine that serves me faithfully everyday.

I recently came across a program called AVG PC Tuneup.  I decided to have a look and liked what I saw.  AVG PC Tuneup allows you 1 free go, and unlimited access for a 24 hour period.  “Great”, I though and proceeded to download the program and ran the PC Analyzer.  It found almost 9,000 problems, which seemed like a lot to me!  When it was done, I let it go repair all these problems and the result was WOW!  My laptop was as fast as it was when I first opened it.  I have to say, I was seriously impressed.

Some of AVG’s PC Tuneup features include:

  • Clean your registry and help prevent freezing and crashing
  • Enjoy a faster running PC
  • Speed up your Internet connection
  • Recover accidentally deleted files

Not all these features are available for use with the one time free go e.g. speeding up your internet connection and recovering accidentally deleted files.  But the features that are available for use will certainly make a huge difference to a sluggish machine.

To download your 1 time free go of AVG PC Tuneup

A word of warning however, take a backup before you go deleting stuff ;-)

Play all formats with VLC Media Player

Posted on: Thursday, Mar 31, 2011

If you want to play video or music files in any format, download VLC Media Player.  It’s free and is a great alternative to Windows Media Player, iTunes and RealPlayer, to name but a few.  No more converting files or searching for programs to handle the format. Just play and enjoy.

Remove mywebsearch

Posted on: Thursday, Mar 31, 2011

A number of people are having problems with mywebsearch, a toolbar that comes with applications such as Tattoodle, Smiley Central, Zwinky etc. In particular, users of facebook have come to us requesting help on removing this from their computer.

mywebsearch has been reported as a source of malware/spyware/adware and can be difficult to remove .  That said,  running a good malware program followed by a registry clean should banish it for good. We have used malwarebytes and eusing registry cleaner and these have done the job for us.  Just remember to run the registry cleaner straight after running malwarebytes as mywebsearch can reappear otherwise.  Any difficulties just let us know.

Disk Defragmentation

Posted on: Thursday, Mar 24, 2011

When you buy your new computer, everything is lovely, organised and neat on the nice new hard drive. But as you start using it, adding files, modifying files and removing files, things start to get less organised and this becomes apparent in your computer’s performance.  Windows has an inbuilt function called Disk Defragmentation. This Defrag tool can analyse and reorganise your hard drive.

1. Click on the Start Button.

2. Select ‘Computer’ or ‘My Computer’.

3. Right click on the drive you want to defragment and click on Properties.

4. You are presented with a window containing a number of tabs along the top, click on the ‘Tools’ tab.

5. Click on ‘Defragment Now…’

6. Ensure you have selected the correct drive and click the Defragment Disk button.

Run programs from the cloud?

Posted on: Saturday, Mar 19, 2011

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?  With all the great software that is available now, it is so easy for you PC and laptop to get bogged down with it all, slowing you down in the process.  But all that is about to change!  With the new ‘Spoon’ plug-in, you can run popular programs directly from the web.  Some of the software they offer includes Skype, Notepad, Google Talk, OpenOffice.org, VLC Media Player, to name but a few.  This is a completely free service and all you have to so is sign up for an account.  One draw back however, as you might imagine, is launching of the program takes a little longer than it would if hosted directly on your PC. That said, once opened, it functions just the same.  So, if you need to free up a little space, this might be the thing for you!  Hop on over by clicking the link below and see for yourself.

Searching for help with a problem?

Posted on: Thursday, Mar 17, 2011

This little hint can save you oodles of time.  If you have a problem and you are searching for help in forums etc., include the word ‘solved’ in your search.  This will take you to forums where a similar query was answered satisfactorily and marked ‘solved’.  Otherwise, you will waste time, like I have done on many an occasion, sifting through results that are just asking the same question you are.
